In May 2007 the centre received the Start Right Eat Right Award. This award recognises that the centre provides:
- At least 50% of the recommended Daily Intake of nutrients
- Good food safety
- A supportive and enjoyable eating environment
To achieve this award the centre worked with a dietitian who had been trained through the Lady Gowrie Child Centre. The menus were reviewed to ensure that MPCC was always providing nutritious foods for the children while they were at the centre. The dietitian visited the centre and observed the cook as well as the staff and the children during lunch time.
